Gatsby book review: #5
_ Has their ever been anything that you waited your whole life for? Some things that may have even happened in the past but you still want to happen now. Gatsby had these dreams. He waited his whole life for his single dream. A life spent waiting for one thing to happen, may be a life but not a full life. Imagine waiting for one thing to happen, but of course it did happen, than it is taken away in the shot of the gun.
_ Gatsby was an interesting man. His story unfolded through the lines of the book. He was always thinking of what others thought about him. A perfect example of this was when he lied about what college he went to, to everyone."I was to Oxford." That was Gatsby's line when they asked him what college he went to. He didn't want them to know a lot about him. He would never tell anyone about how he got his money, not even to settle all of the rumors about him. He always thought that you had time to do whatever you wanted. During a conversation between Nick and Gatsby, Nick said that "You can not make up the past," and Gatsby retorted "Certainly you can!" Reality was only nothing but a suggestion to him. He lived in his own world and did not care about the true world. I found that part about him a little inspirational in which we always have time to redo our mistakes. He was very wasteful with his money. He through many parties bigger than life that were so expensive. This was in a time where very few people had money and this type of living led to the depression of the thirties. He lived for one thing, and that happened to be Daisy. He threw these parties for this girl and she finally came. His life was full, well until he was killed.
_ This book was full of symbolism. Gatsby in my opinion was a very easy symbol to pick up. He spent all of his money on extravagant items, did not care about the real world, and only wanted one thing. There seemed to be only one reasonable object he can be symbolizing, the people of the twenties. They all spent their money and did not care about the real world. The eyes on the billboard represented God looking over the Vally of sinners. Colors represented objects beyond their expectations. This book is not one that I recommend you read through fast. You have to be alert to everything that happened.
_ Reading the paragraph about Gatsby, you probably are wondering what the book was about. A man named Nick moved to a part of New York and got a job. His second cousin Daisy lived close by and they use to visit each other. During these visits he found a love interest in Jordan Baker. Gatsby was Nick's neighbor and they occasional talked until they became friends. At one of the parties Gatsby had Jordan and Nick were invited and Gatsby asked if Nick could invite Daisy over for tea and than invite him. This was because Daisy was Gatsby's love in the past and always was, he did everything to get her. Daisy was in a failing relationship with Tom also. Long story short Daisy and Gatsby get together and they were riding in the car and hit and killed Myrtle, Tom's mistress. George, who was Myrtle's husband, found out who killed her and than went to Gatsby's house and shot him while he was swimming and than shot himself.
_ This story, in my opinion, was a romance story. It was full of people having feelings for other people. You may think that this book sounds very interesting and seems like a good read and that is fine. That is great if you think that but the way the book is written is very tricky to read. I found myself rereading chapters and paragraphs to get the meaning. You have to read this book very carefully. if you have a chunk of time with nothing to do during it, and you want to read a book, than this may be the book you are looking for.

Signs: Falling Out or Coming Back.
Signs are meant to show us a certain object without any words. The better the sign the more people will recognize it. Look around yourself right now, signs are everywhere. They range from the no smoking sign on the campus or the boy and girl bathroom signs. If one object was to be studied the true meaning of it would be put together just as if it was a puzzle.
Some signs were huge, but sadly they are not in use anymore. This is the recently buried myspace sign. This use to be one of the biggest social networks out there. Sadly, facebook and youtube came along and killed it. I guess that this can teach us something very valuable. You have to keep up with the competition to stay in the game.
This is the new network sign. People come here to watch other people's videos and to make their own. This website almost single handedly killed our dear old friend, myspace. Looking at this symbol you can easily tell it means the website youtube. Everyone, well almost everyone can recognize this logo. This goes to show you that as new things come along, other are put to rest :/

That Crazy Italian Lady
-dedicated to my grandma (I asked her what to blog about and said herself)
There once was an old women,
she worked a hard life raising three children.
She raised them the best she can,
with the help of her beloved man.
She loved that man with her whole heart,
it must have been love right from the start.
They grew old together and supported each other,
after helping each other they then helped another.
Her time raising her children was quite hard,
She played with them, being no yard.
She raised them with an iron fist,
You may think this is much but it is just first on the list.
Her heart was as big as her kitchen,
she never knew where she was able to pitch in.
Everyone in her house would be stuffed,
but to her that was never enough.
No one would ever leave her house unfed,
if they did, "COME BACK" she always said.
They were lavished with spaghetti and meatballs,
they would be so stuffed they were about to fall.
She never knew when her hospitality was enough,
she treated you right with all that good stuff.
Her home was not hers, it was the whole street's,
she is use to comments like "Oh that is so sweet!"
Now in her old days she is just the same,
her family is now comfortable with calling her insane.
Not once has she ever thought of herself,
her belongings, like something you could take off a shelf.
She was most talked about on her street
she was famous for being so sweet.
Her love like a big bowl of gravy
They always began with "That crazy Italian Lady"
