Gatsby book review: #5

_ Has their ever been anything that you waited your whole life for? Some things that may have even happened in the past but you still want to happen now. Gatsby had these dreams. He waited his whole life for his single dream. A life spent waiting for one thing to happen, may be a life but not a full life. Imagine waiting for one thing to happen, but of course it did happen, than it is taken away in the shot of the gun.
_ Gatsby was an interesting man. His story unfolded through the lines of the book. He was always thinking of what others thought about him. A perfect example of this was when he lied about what college he went to, to everyone."I was to Oxford." That was Gatsby's line when they asked him what college he went to. He didn't want them to know a lot about him. He would never tell anyone about how he got his money, not even to settle all of the rumors about him. He always thought that you had time to do whatever you wanted. During a conversation between Nick and Gatsby, Nick said that "You can not make up the past," and Gatsby retorted "Certainly you can!" Reality was only nothing but a suggestion to him. He lived in his own world and did not care about the true world. I found that part about him a little inspirational in which we always have time to redo our mistakes. He was very wasteful with his money. He through many parties bigger than life that were so expensive. This was in a time where very few people had money and this type of living led to the depression of the thirties. He lived for one thing, and that happened to be Daisy. He threw these parties for this girl and she finally came. His life was full, well until he was killed.
_ This book was full of symbolism. Gatsby in my opinion was a very easy symbol to pick up. He spent all of his money on extravagant items, did not care about the real world, and only wanted one thing. There seemed to be only one reasonable object he can be symbolizing, the people of the twenties. They all spent their money and did not care about the real world. The eyes on the billboard represented God looking over the Vally of sinners. Colors represented objects beyond their expectations. This book is not one that I recommend you read through fast. You have to be alert to everything that happened.
_ Reading the paragraph about Gatsby, you probably are wondering what the book was about. A man named Nick moved to a part of New York and got a job. His second cousin Daisy lived close by and they use to visit each other. During these visits he found a love interest in Jordan Baker. Gatsby was Nick's neighbor and they occasional talked until they became friends. At one of the parties Gatsby had Jordan and Nick were invited and Gatsby asked if Nick could invite Daisy over for tea and than invite him. This was because Daisy was Gatsby's love in the past and always was, he did everything to get her. Daisy was in a failing relationship with Tom also. Long story short Daisy and Gatsby get together and they were riding in the car and hit and killed Myrtle, Tom's mistress. George, who was Myrtle's husband, found out who killed her and than went to Gatsby's house and shot him while he was swimming and than shot himself.
_ This story, in my opinion, was a romance story. It was full of people having feelings for other people. You may think that this book sounds very interesting and seems like a good read and that is fine. That is great if you think that but the way the book is written is very tricky to read. I found myself rereading chapters and paragraphs to get the meaning. You have to read this book very carefully. if you have a chunk of time with nothing to do during it, and you want to read a book, than this may be the book you are looking for.

Signs: Falling Out or Coming Back.

Signs are meant to show us a certain object without any words. The better the sign the more people will recognize it. Look around yourself right now, signs are everywhere. They range from the no smoking sign on the campus or the boy and girl bathroom signs. If one object was to be studied the true meaning of it would be put together just as if it was a puzzle.
Some signs were huge, but sadly they are not in use anymore.
This is the recently buried myspace sign. This use to be one of the biggest social networks out there. Sadly, facebook and youtube came along and killed it. I guess that this can teach us something very valuable. You have to keep up with the competition to stay in the game.
This is the new network sign. People come here to watch other people's videos and to make their own. This website almost single handedly killed our dear old friend, myspace. Looking at this symbol you can easily tell it means the website youtube. Everyone, well almost everyone can recognize this logo. This goes to show you that as new things come along, other are put to rest :/

That Crazy Italian Lady

-dedicated to my grandma (I asked her what to blog about and said herself)

There once was an old women,
she worked a hard life raising three children.
She raised them the best she can,
with the help of her beloved man.

She loved that man with her whole heart,
it must have been love right from the start.
They grew old together and supported each other,
after helping each other they then helped another.

Her time raising her children was quite hard,
She played with them, being no yard.
She raised them with an iron fist,
You may think this is much but it is just first on the list.

Her heart was as big as her kitchen,
she never knew where she was able to pitch in.
Everyone in her house would be stuffed,
but to her that was never enough.

No one would ever leave her house unfed,
if they did, "COME BACK" she always said.
They were lavished with spaghetti and meatballs,
they would be so stuffed they were about to fall.

She never knew when her hospitality was enough,
she treated you right with all that good stuff.
Her home was not hers, it was the whole street's,
she is use to comments like "Oh that is so sweet!"

Now in her old days she is just the same,
her family is now comfortable with calling her insane.
Not once has she ever thought of herself,
her belongings, like something you could take off a shelf.

She was most talked about on her street
she was famous for being so sweet.
Her love like a big bowl of gravy
They always began with "That crazy Italian Lady"

Is it really possible to live forever?

“We all die. The goal isn’t to live forever. The goal is to create something that will.- Chuck Palahniuk

I find that this quote has a significant meaning. This quote is almost whispering the meaning of out society. In our society today, people want to become famous. They want to go down in history and be read about in books or anywhere for that matter. That is exactly what this quote is telling you to do. It is telling you to do something that is worth living or making a difference. We all know that we can not live forever and Chuck is telling us to take advantage of our lives. We can take advantage of our lives by doing something great. Apart from the meaning, this quote gives me a happy feeling. This may only be me but this quote makes me happy that we can do something that will be history. I feel that even after I do die, there will be a small part of me still here. the mood or theme of this quote is just inspirational. I most certainly feel inspired when I examine this quote. There is nothing about this quote that is not inspiring.

A song with an excellent meaning, such as this quote, is “Forever young”. In the song living forever is mentioned in the chorus. Then it goes on to say “Do you really want to live forever?” That was truly a great question. Sometimes people say that they want to live forever. I think that they are confusing some things. What they should want to do is make something that will be forever and in history. The simple fact is that no one can live forever. That would be sad to live forever and no one else live forever, wouldn’t it? As the song ends it says “So many dreams are swinging out in the blue.” This is self explanatory meaning that you have all these dreams but they fading away. It then states “Well then let them come true.” If everyone did all the dreams that they had then they can live forever. They would go down in history for doing what they wanted. No one lives forever or is going going to be forever young. We should make something that will live forever.

In the world today people are doing incredible things. Just last night the Grammy’s was on television. The people that won the awards there or performed there, are not going to live forever. They are making things that not everyone has the ability to say they did. They made things in there lives that are bigger then life and will always be remembered in someone’s mind.  Everyone has the ability to do what they are doing. If not what they were doing then something just as big. That show spoke more to me then just seeing famous people win awards. It told me that if I try hard and work towards my dreams I can do anything that I want to do. It is a great country that we live in. In this country we all have the chance to make it big and famous. Why would someone not want to be famous?

I am deeply inspired by this quote. This has great meaning. I might even be able to say that I have never read a quote that so full of meaning. When reading this quote I get happy. It gives such great hope that I can do what I want to do. There are many things in my life that I would like to do before I die. We all may not be able to live forever. Though in a way it is like we all have a chance to live forever.

The meaning of communication

Communication is the ability to talk to others effectively. This is how you interact with the people around you. Communication gives you the power to talk to other people. The picture to the side shows how people must communicate. This shows that without communication the world would not be as connected as we are today. This is a giant role in any human being's life. We use communication everyday of our lives. This is how we learn in school, get directions, everything we do is through communication. There are many different forms of communication. There are cell phones, computers, social network, talking, etc. This blog is a form of communication  If communication was not present, people start to mess up on everyday things.
Without communication the world would be a very different place. Many wars have happened or were stopped from happening through communication. A very recent event happened in the world through communication. The people of the country of Egypt used a form of communication to their advantage. The mass of the people had various online accounts and they used these accounts to talk to each other about a revolution. This caused all of the people to form a protest and chaos has been a result. Without communication that protest would have been very different, or it wouldn't have happened.
Communication plays a colossal role in my life. Much of school work is done through communication over the internet. I use multiple forms of communication on a daily basis. I use a facebook account to keep in contact with my friends, I own a cellphone, have a blog, and I talk to the people around me.Without communication we would not know what to do and when we had to do it. I personally would be lost without communication. I am the type of person who has to talk to people to know what to do. I like to be told exactly what to do in things such as projects. Almost everything we do, is done through communication.

The Year As Of Now

Well the begining of the first marking period brought the begining of a new chapter in my personal book of life. I thought that high school was the best thing that had happened to me. This was since eigth grade of course. It was honestly amazing in the begining. I had freedom, I was doing good in school. I loved it. Then I went to Philadelphia. I relized how much I missed the city. I missed all my old friends. I wanted to see them so bad. Also it was such a drastic change. i went from a city catholic school to a less city-like public school. Nothing seemed good.
Later in the begining of the second marking period I relized that I didn't even think that I wanted to be a doctor. I didn't even know if this was the school that I wanted to be in. This whole situation was a big mess that had to be cleaned. I then thought about it and came to the conclusion that this is the best place to be.
Now I am getting use to this school. I came to the conclusion that this school holds the best oppurtunity for me in the future. I just have to see what the future has in hold for me.

The Great Gatsby

When I first started to read this book, I honestly thought that it was going to be one of the worst books that I have ever read. Now that i am almost finished this book, I came to find out that it is not that bad. There are some slow parts but the story to it fixes them. To help me on my way to finishing this book i wanted to write a blog on the pros and cons of the book called The great Gatsby.
There are some pros to this book. One of the pros would have to be that it was written so long ago. When I pick up this book it is almost like I am looking through a miror to the past. This also makes me feel like I am reading about history. Another pro to this book would have to be that it describes the characters nicly.
There are cons, and they may out weigh the pros by a little. The first con of the book would have to be that the chapters were too long. This ment that there was more pages to read in the time period. Another con would be that there were too many characters. They do introduce the characters nicle and describe them but it sometimes is hard to keep track. The last con would have to be that there were a few slow chapters.

Book Review #4

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Have you ever found yourself, daydreaming about a new world? Have you even ever found yourself wanting to have powers beyond man? For a young boy, named Harry Potter, this was his life. If you have answered yes to any one of these questions, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is the book for you.
When Hagrid said "You're a wizard Harry", these were words of happiness. When Harry was only a baby his parents were killed by the most dangorous wizard there was, Voldemort. The family that Harry lived with when he was orphaned were horrible. They were his mother's sister's family and they disowned her for being a wizard. NAturally, they did the same to Harry. They never let him do anything and he had to sleep in a little cupard underneath the sink. Hagrid came and turned his life around. harry was then brought to a magical school and found out some things are not what they seemed.
When Harry is at school for the first time, he goes to the Sorting Hat. "This boy would make a great Slytherin student." said the hat as he sat upon Harry's hat. These were words of pure terror to HArry. Slytheriin is where is new enemy is and he did not want to spend seven years with him. The next day classes started and he found out that one of his teachers already hated him. The year was not starting off right for Harry at all. The only good thing that came out of this school was that he had his first friend, Ron Weasly.
Throughtout the rest of the year things looked like nothing was going to be getting better. this is until Harry's skill at broom flying was found. He then joined the team of quidatch as the youngest member. This seemed to be the best thing at the time, until the first game. One of the professors tried to kill harry by knocking him off of his broom. Then he came to find out that the same professor was hosting the remains of Voldemort. HE then had to go to find the Sorcerer's stone in a dungeon. There were various obstcles in this dungeon that they had to go through. In the end Harry was successful and saved the school from the grips of Voldemort. That is until next year.
If anything magical sparks your interest, then you most likely will like this. This book has a whole range of aspects. From a story of a poor boy to a wizrd. This is much like nothing I have personally never read. i would reccomend this book to you if you ever have to read a book.
